Trailblazing the Future of Solar: Revolve Energy Wins SEANZ 2025 Award

Living Pā, Ngā Mokopuna

At this year’s SEANZ Aotearoa Industry Awards, Revolve Energy was honoured with the Ecotricity Trailblazer Award, a category that recognises organisations leading the way in renewable energy. The award highlights those who set new standards for how solar, storage and smart energy can be delivered in Aotearoa, moving the industry forward through innovation and foresight.

Why Revolve was recognised

Revolve Energy was acknowledged for developing a suite of innovative services and products that unlock value for customers and create opportunities for other SEANZ members.

We stood out to the judges, not just for individual achievements, but for the breadth of our impact – from feasibility and design to operation and optimisation. By addressing the barriers that often hold back solar and storage at scale, we give organisations the confidence to make bold, future-focused energy decisions.

Trailblazing projects

Our work spans some of the most ambitious and technically challenging renewable projects in Aotearoa:

Camp Glenorchy - The Headwaters

  • Camp Glenorchy – The Headwaters: a Living Building Challenge tourism project, powered by a microgrid that generates more than 105% of its annual energy use.

  • Victoria University of Wellington – Living Pā, Ngā Mokopuna: a grid-connected PV and battery system that delivers net-positive energy and sets a new bar for sustainable building performance.

  • Auckland International Airport – Mānawa Bay & Transport Hub: New Zealand’s largest rooftop PV system designed to generate a significant portion of the building’s annual energy requirements.

  • Cohaus Grey Lynn: an innovative community energy system reducing energy bills by 75% and delivering automated billing and shared energy benefits.

  • Mangawhai Hills: a 700-home development designed for 105% net positive solar generation, supported by battery storage, a private community microgrid, regenerative water and waste systems, smart metering and large-scale rewilding with nature trails.

These projects show how collaboration, smart design and new energy models can turn ambitious ideas into working assets that benefit both owners and communities.

Innovating for the wider industry

Performance reporting dashboard

Beyond projects, Revolve is productising knowledge to help grow the industry. Tools like our Shoal community billing platform, thermographic imaging services and performance reporting dashboards give asset owners the confidence to invest and ensure long-term returns.

We’re also actively contributing to the industry by engaging with regulators, participating in standards development and supporting initiatives like FlexForum to unlock flexibility in the energy system.

Looking ahead

Winning the Trailblazer Award is a proud moment for our team, but more importantly, it reflects the collaborative spirit of New Zealand’s renewable energy sector. We’re committed to continuing our role as a creative problem-solver, a partner to communities and developers and a driver of change across the industry.

The energy transition is already underway and we’re excited to keep helping Aotearoa design and deliver the systems that will power its future.
